Know before you move — schools, safety, prices, transport and more, from official UK data.
Each one answers a single question from a single official source. Every tool is free on three postcode searches a week.
Free tools for any UK postcode: a crime map UK-wide, an Ofsted school checker, a broadband checker by postcode, an EV charging point map, sold prices, GP finder and more. Council tax and live flood warnings are in every full area report.
Each tool takes a postcode and answers one question from one official dataset. The crime rate checker uses police.uk recorded crime; the Ofsted school checker uses the Department for Education register and Ofsted judgements; the broadband checker by postcode uses Ofcom Connected Nations; and the EV charging point map uses Open Charge Map.
Two things people often look for work a little differently. For council tax, the area report shows the Band D figure for the council — a useful benchmark, but your bill depends on your home’s band, which you can look up on gov.uk. For flooding, we show live Environment Agency warnings; long-term flood risk for a property is on the government’s own flood risk checker.
Catchment areas are set by each council or academy trust and change year to year. We show every school near a postcode with its distance and rating — check the admissions policy with the council before you rely on a place.
Every recorded crime within a mile, by month and category, for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Public chargers near any postcode with connector type, speed and operator.
Yes. The full area report shows the council’s Band D council tax. To find the band of a specific home, use the official council tax band search on gov.uk (England and Wales) or the Scottish Assessors site.
Open the Broadband Checker and enter a postcode. It shows the share of premises that can get superfast, ultrafast and gigabit broadband, from Ofcom.
The area report shows live flood warnings from the Environment Agency. For the long-term flood risk of a property, use the “check long term flood risk” service on gov.uk.
We do not publish catchment boundaries, because councils set them and they change. The School Finder shows every school near a postcode with its Ofsted judgement and distance, which is the usual starting point.
Every tool is included in a free account, which has three postcode searches a week. Premium raises the limit.
