“Who attends” and the service details on each listing are what the business told us about itself. We do not verify them, and we never work them out ourselves — a listing that did not answer shows nothing and is not included when you filter by it.

Being listed is free. We ask for your insurance certificate and whichever registration your trade needs, check them, then delete them — your photos stay on your listing. We keep only the expiry dates, and remind you before your cover runs out.
Finding a removals firm or man with a van
Everybody on this page moves people for a living and asked to be listed. Before a listing goes up we see a driving licence and an insurance certificate that covers carrying goods for payment, we record when the cover runs out, and then we delete the documents. The photographs of the van stay, because they are the thing you are judging.
MoveCompass takes no part in what you arrange. There is no booking form, no deposit and no commission — you get a phone number and an email address, and whatever you agree is between you and them. That is also why nothing here says a mover is approved: we checked papers on one day, which is a different claim from saying somebody will look after your things.
What we saw
A driving licence, and one insurance certificate that covers goods in transit for hire and reward. Ordinary van insurance does not, and a mover carrying your things on a private policy is carrying them uninsured.
What stays on the page
The photographs, the area covered, how far they travel, the size of the vehicle and when the insurance expires. If the cover lapses the listing comes down until a new certificate is checked.
What we cannot tell you
How careful they are. Ask for references, ask what happens if something is damaged, and get the price in writing before the van is loaded.

How do I find a removal company near me?

What is the difference between a man with a van and a removals firm?
Mostly the size of the vehicle and the number of people. A man with a van suits a flat or a few rooms and often means you help carry; a removals firm arrives with a team and a lorry. Both appear here, and the vehicle weight and team size on each listing tell you which is which.
Should a mover be insured, and for what?
Yes, and for the right thing. Carrying somebody else’s belongings for payment is hire and reward, and a normal car or van policy excludes it. We ask to see a certificate that covers it, and we show when that certificate expires.
Does MoveCompass take a booking fee or commission?
No. We publish contact details and nothing else. You ring or email the mover, agree the job with them, and pay them directly. We never see the price and take no cut of it.
How do I get a sensible removals quote?
Tell each mover the same thing: where from, where to, which floor, how many rooms, whether there is parking and whether anything is very heavy. Quotes only compare when the job described is identical, and a price given without any of that is a guess.
