Every figure here comes from police.uk, the official release from the 43 forces of England and Wales plus the Police Service of Northern Ireland. It is recorded crime — incidents someone reported and the force logged — not an estimate, a score, or anybody’s opinion of a neighbourhood.
Crime rate by postcode is a harder question than it sounds. A city centre records more incidents than a village because more people pass through it, not because it is more dangerous to live in. The category mix and the trend over months tell you far more than a single total.

The page shows recorded incidents rather than a rate, because a crime rate by postcode depends entirely on how you divide by population. A city centre records more crime than a village because more people pass through it, not because living there is worse.
Enter any London postcode. The Metropolitan Police and City of London Police both publish to police.uk, so London crime map data appears exactly as it does everywhere else in England and Wales.
It depends on the measure, which is why we publish no league table. Crime statistics UK forces release count incidents, and ranking places by raw counts flatters rural areas while ranking by rate per thousand residents changes the order completely.
Not exactly, and deliberately so. Police.uk move each incident to a nearby anonymous point so victims cannot be identified. The pattern across a neighbourhood is reliable; a single pin is not.
