“Who attends” and the service details on each listing are what the business told us about itself. We do not verify them, and we never work them out ourselves — a listing that did not answer shows nothing and is not included when you filter by it.

Being listed is free. We ask for your insurance certificate and whichever registration your trade needs, check them, then delete them — your photos stay on your listing. We keep only the expiry dates, and remind you before your cover runs out.
Finding a plumber, and what a registration badge means
Plumbers on this page asked to be listed and gave us photo identification and a public liability insurance certificate, which we check and then delete. We keep the expiry date so the listing can be switched off if the cover lapses, and put back when a new certificate arrives.
Plumbing has no legal register. WaterSafe and CIPHE membership is voluntary, so a plumber who has not joined either can be perfectly competent — which is why a listing without a badge is not a warning. A badge appears only where somebody here has opened the certificate and read it. Gas work is the exception: that is a legal matter and it belongs on the heating engineers page.

Why some listings have no badge
Because there is nothing to have a badge about. Registration is optional in plumbing, and showing a grey "not registered" mark against somebody would be making a claim we cannot support.
What we cannot tell you
Whether the price is fair or the work will last. Ask for the rate and the call-out charge before they set off, and ask whether the quote covers parts.

How do I find a plumber near me?
Enter a town or postcode above. Each listing shows where the plumber is based, how far they travel and the areas they cover, along with their own description of the work they take on.
Do plumbers have to be registered in the UK?
No. Unlike gas work, general plumbing has no legal register and no licence. WaterSafe and CIPHE are voluntary schemes, so registration is a good sign rather than a requirement, and its absence proves nothing either way.
What does the registered badge on a listing mean?
That we asked for the certificate, it arrived, and somebody read it before the listing went live. It means nothing about the quality of any particular job, and it is never shown on a listing where we have not seen the document.
Can a plumber work on my boiler?
Only if they are Gas Safe registered for it. Anything connected to the gas supply — the boiler itself, the pipework feeding it — is gas work and is a criminal offence without registration. Our heating engineers page lists people who hold that card.
What should I ask a plumber before they start?
The hourly or daily rate, whether there is a call-out charge, whether parts are included and what happens if the job turns out to be bigger than it looked. Getting that in a text message before they arrive prevents most arguments afterwards.
