Who we are
MoveCompass ("we") operates movecompass.co.uk, a UK area-research service. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
What we collect and why
- Account data — name, email and a hashed password, to run your account. Lawful basis: contract.
- Verification and security data — one-time codes and sign-in tokens, to protect your account. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
- Vehicle registrations — only if you use MOT reminders; we store the registration and official due dates, nothing else about the vehicle. Lawful basis: contract.
- Tool searches — the postcode and tool used, to run the service and show aggregate statistics. Searches are not sold or shared.
What we don't do
No advertising trackers, no selling or renting personal data, no profiling for third parties.
Retention and rights
Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted on account deletion. Under UK GDPR you may access, correct, export or erase your data, or object to processing — use the contact page. You may also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
Area data
The area information on this site is statistical public-sector data about places, not people. Every dataset's licence and attribution is listed on the data attributions page.
